How to

The process starts with a digital drawing of your stencil(s) in a file format that the equipment can understand. Usable formats include: .3dm, .eps, .cdr, .ai, and other vector file formats. If you do not have a computer drawing of your stencil you can mail or email a drawing or sketch along with the required sizes and we can draw it for you. Once you have a design you can email it to us and we will send you an estimate of the costs. Upon receiving your approval and payment in full we will cut your stencils and ship them to you.

Tips for Preparing Files for cutting stencils.

If you create your design using a program such as CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator here are some tips for designing your stencils;
  • Give your file a unique name.
  • Draw all parts full size.
  • Leave ONLY thin outlines (0.001"). This is where the stencil will be cut.
  • Include a 1" square outside of the page area for a size reference.
  • Include an outline of the stencil to be cut with the design positioned where it will be cut from the final sheet.
The process only works with graphics in a vector format. Preferred file formats are;
  • .CDR - CorelDraw X5 or earlier
  • .AI - Adobe Illustrator (for PC) CS4 or earlier - Uncompressed
  • .3DM - Rhinoceros Version 4.0 or earlier
  • .DXF or .DWG - AutoCad R2000 or earlier - Uncompressed


Requesting a Quote

Once you have your drawing finished, you can send it along with an email to request a quote from us. Some of the things to include in the email would be:

  • The drawing as an attachment.
  • Contact information where we can reach you. Either by email or phone number
  • How many copies of the drawing you want cut
  • When you would need the finished product by
  • Material you would like to have the product made from.
  • Any other information that you feel would be helpful to us in returning a quote.

Pricing

$20.00 minimum/job.

No set-up fee.

Drawing is $60 / hour with a 1/2 hour minimum.

$2.00 per minute of laser cutting time, billed in 0.1-minute increments with a $20 minimum / job. The machine cuts 1/8" acrylic at a little under two seconds per inch.

For larger jobs (order totalling over 2 hours and repeat production runs) we offer a lower per minute cost.

Orders paid by PayPal, money order, bank draft, or certified cheque will be added to the production schedule immediately.

Orders paid by personal cheque will be held until the cheque clears and will then be added to the production schedule. No order will be processed before receiving payment in full.

Most jobs are shipped within 5 business days of receiving payment.

Rush orders (24 - 48 hours from payment to shipping) can be accommodated for most orders (subject to a usable drawing being supplied, the availability of materials and the size of the job) but there is a 100% surcharge for this service with a $100.00 minimum.

Shipping costs start at only $0.90, and we do not charge a handling fee.

You can select from Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, or CanPar for delivery service.
